Shelter Art Show

Our annual art show to raise money for the homeless shelter we work with is in advanced planning. We have a venue (St. Michael's again), artists (currently six, we'd like a couple more), and plenty of enthusiasm. What we don't have is great marketing/advertising skill. How do we actually get the word out so that we get people actually coming; and not just people, the RIGHT people? Those aren't rhetorical questions...anybody have any suggestions?

Can you mention it on the Camden Market website?

This event may have passed but here are some tips for the future:
To get artists do a "call for art" by putting the general info of what you need/want, contact person and info and the dates of the event plus when you need the art by. Hang this up in local stores or colleges or coffee shops & pubs. Place the same ad on a community website like Craigslist.
As for getting people to attend - again, put out flyers, connect with churches, and any organizations that might have people interested in attending plus list your event online on any community boards you know of under "events". You can also send a general press release about your event to local papers and they might list it in their event section...
